Muscle Activation Techniques

Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is one of the fastest growing corrective therapy trends in the fitness industry. From John Elway, to Beth Daniel, athletes are often looking for ways to treat the “root cause” of injuries and not just alleviate symptoms. MAT is perfect for the highly focused athlete, or just the “average Joe” at the gym. An unfortunate reality, at some point we all suffer from an acute injury, chronic pain or general muscle fatigue. Instead of solely focusing on traditional methods for treating injury symptoms, MAT looks for causes of muscle deficiencies and imbalances, and seeks to solve the imbalances within the body that lead to nagging injuries.

Benefits of MAT:

  • Focus on treating the root cause of injuries
  • Restores normal body alignment
  • Activates muscles that have become dormant.
  • Takes pressure off overused muscles

MAT looks at muscle tightness as a way the body protects itself from movements that are not typical or excessive in the normal day of body movement. As body muscles are pushed beyond their normal comfort zone, weak or inhibited muscles can create the need for other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize the joints. MAT finds the true source of the muscle pain or injury by addressing muscle weakness rather than muscle tightness. This helps to restore normal body alignment, thereby, decreasing pain and reducing the risk of injury.

Nate Fryer is a certified muscle activation techniques specialist and is available for individual MAT sessions. Tammy Wallace is also certified to do some elements of Muscle Activation Techniques. Call 303-931-4704 for more information on Ena’s MAT services.
